Our high density foam has a compression rate of 44lbs, making it the ideal balance of cushioning and firmness. It provides the perfect support for sitting without compressing the foam too much. The compression, not density, determines the firmness of the foam. It's important to check the compression or ild number to avoid getting a cushion that's too hard or a mattress that sinks when you sit on it. Compression refers to the number of pounds necessary to compress a piece of foam by 25% and have it bounce back to its original thickness. For instance, a 4" thick piece of foam requiring 33 lbs. to compress it 1" and return to its full thickness has a 33 lb. compression rating. It's important to note that all foam sheets are sold per sheet and not per yard. Be careful not to open the package with a box cutter, use a ball point pen or pencil instead. Our foam is durable and can last 7 to 10 years.
