For example, a 4" thick piece of foam that needs 33 lbs. to compress it 1" and return to 4" thickness has a 33 lb. compression rating or (ILD). All foam sheets are sold per sheet, not per yard, and should not be opened with a box cutter - use a ballpoint pen or pencil to make an incision and break it from there.
