To avoid a cushion that's too hard or a mattress that sinks when sat on, it's important to check the compression or ild number. Compression refers to the number of pounds needed to compress a piece of foam by 25% and have it bounce back to its original thickness.

For instance, a 4" piece of foam requiring 33 lbs. to compress it by 1" and return to 4" thickness has a compression rating or ild of 33 lbs. Please note that all foam sheets are sold per sheet, not per yard. When opening the package, it's advisable to use a ballpoint pen or pencil instead of a box cutter. Make a small incision and proceed from there to avoid damage. Our medium-density foam is suitable for providing firm yet comfortable cushioning and is designed for durability, even under heavy weight.
